THE STORY

Consumers Energy provides electricity and natural gas service to business customers across Michigan in partnership with Franklin Energy, who implements their commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs. When Consumers Energy needed additional gas savings to meet aggressive year-end savings goals within a compressed timeline, Franklin Energy identified a scalable kit distribution strategy to rapidly engage business customers while delivering measurable, verified savings.

THE GOAL

The solution needed to:

  • Reach thousands of business customers quickly.
  • Deliver both meaningful and verified energy savings.
  • Be supported by reliable inventory, fulfillment, shipping, and tracking capabilities.

THE SOLUTION AND RESULTS

  • A pre-shipment customer communication

  • Follow-up communications with additional energy-saving resources

Within just 94 days from the initial conversation to first shipment, the team distributed 28,744 kits to business customers statewide. Savings were verified by the evaluator TRC using deemed savings values from the Michigan MEMD.
