Franklin Energy Announces Climate Policy Statement

November 12, 2021 Franklin Energy

Franklin Energy Climate Policy ScopeFranklin Energy is committed to protecting the planet today and building a brighter, more sustainable future for the next generation. We acknowledge that climate change, caused by human activity, is the most significant challenge of our time, and we support the Paris Agreement to minimize the impact of global climate change.

Franklin Energy commits to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2025 across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Considering all scopes will allow us to address what we do and how we operate, and to influence those we work with.

What we do:

Since 1994, Franklin Energy has worked to lower the carbon impact of its utility clients’ customers through the implementation of innovative energy efficiency and demand response programs (scope 3). As technology and energy usage have progressed, we’ve been at the forefront of developing and providing cutting-edge solutions for ever-evolving challenges. Serving residential, multifamily, and commercial and industrial sectors, we always work to ensure that no families, businesses, or local communities are left behind.

How we operate:

We pledge to continuously scrutinize and reduce the impact of our own operations (scope 1 and scope 2). We will reduce our footprint by consolidating facility spaces and purchasing clean energy from utilities where offered. Our fleet of passenger vehicles will be transitioned to all-electric vehicles to reduce tailpipe emissions as soon as possible. We will set specific, measurable, and aggressive targets for greenhouse gas emission reductions, which will inform our business decisions and evolving strategies. We will hold ourselves accountable by measuring our progress and sharing it in our annual Sustainability Report.

Who we work with:

Throughout our history, we have been committed to ensuring that our utility partners meet or exceed energy and carbon reduction targets mandated by state elected officials, policymakers and regulators. Utilities’ energy efficiency targets have been on the rise, and the utilities themselves are increasingly pursuing aggressive corporate sustainability goals on their own. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to our utility clients, and we will follow their lead in our own operations. We will expect our contractors, suppliers, vendors, and clients to be partners in the transition to a net-zero carbon future. As part of the procurement process, our Supplier Code of Conduct will convey clear environmental and social expectations for our suppliers.

This defense of the environment is embedded in our culture at Franklin Energy. We believe it is the responsibility of every member of our organization to uphold this policy and to embrace the challenge of mitigating climate change. We look forward to advancing this critically important cause with the clients, customers, and communities we serve.
