Internship Opportunities

Franklin Energy Services is proud to offer internship opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic, curious students who have an interest in learning about the energy efficiency industry and making a positive contribution to the growth of our organization. Our internship program at Franklin Energy allows prospective full-time associates to gain valuable experience in practical, everyday situations.

Candidates applying should desire a work environment where quality work and service is recognized.

The objectives of our internship program are to:

1. Provide meaningful work experience, which supplements and modifies ideas gained from academic courses
2. Offer the student an opportunity to assess his/her abilities and interests in their field of study, thus assisting the student intern in choosing a specific career
3. Provide an inside exposure to the structure, operations and decision processes within an organization without a commitment to a permanent employer
4. Enhance the student’s subsequent academic work and place him/her in a favorable position for permanent employment

The requirements for a student chosen for our internship program are that he/she:

1. Is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of the internship (Ex: Engineering, Human Resources, Marketing, Information Management or Information Technology)
2. Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, who has an ability to prioritize workload
3. Acquires working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
4. Has the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
5. Must have a strong willingness to learn

The following departments offer internship opportunities:

Marketing

This internship offers the opportunity to provide support to the company’s program marketing efforts. Specific duties could include:

• Assisting with writing copy for brochures, direct mail items, case studies and other marketing material
• Generating ideas for promoting energy efficiency programs to end-use business and residential customers
• Tracking the results of marketing promotions to determine success levels
• Creating and modifying documents using Microsoft Office products

Information Management (Database)

This internship offers the opportunity to help meet the business needs of the company by providing technical and administrative support for the company’s databases – specifically those being managed within the Salesforce.com platform. Specific duties could include:

• Providing day-to-day assistance, implementation and maintenance for the company’s database and program information tracking systems
• Providing assistance fielding Help Desk calls for database issues
• Providing assistance to Database Analysts with various data management tasks

Information Technology (IT)

This internship offers the opportunity to help meet the business needs of the company by providing technical and administrative support for the company’s IT Systems (network, servers and workstations). Specific duties could include:

• Providing day-to-day assistance, implementation and maintenance for the company’s information technology systems
• Providing assistance fielding Help Desk calls.
• Maintaining good communication and positive relationships with employees to promote employee satisfaction

Engineering

This internship offers the opportunity to provide energy advice and coordination services for building maintenance, lighting, controls, heating, and ventilation and air conditioning systems. Specific duties could include:

• Assisting in identifying and providing documentation of on-site opportunities for energy efficiency in residential, multifamily, commercial or industrial markets
• Assisting in analyzing building utility bills to determine energy usage trends
• Entering data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and other databases to determine energy savings and manage current projects
• Serving as a technical resource for other staff as necessary

Human Resources

This internship offers the opportunity to help meet the business needs of the company by assisting with all areas of human resources. Specific duties could include:

• Assisting with the recruiting process by screening incoming resumes
• Entering employee information into the Human Resources Information System (ADP)
• Preparing employee benefits paperwork
• Assisting with completing reference checks
• Helping to maintain company organizational charts
