Focus on Energy

The Focus on Energy Program is the umbrella name for the State of Wisconsin’s Public Benefits programs. The programs are overseen by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. There are three main segments: Business, Residential, and Renewable. Franklin Energy is a team member in the delivery of programs targeted to Commercial, Multi-Family Existing Buildings and Multi-Family new construction customers.

Agriculture Customers

Many of our staff contributing to the Agriculture Program have first-hand experience working on or being raised on a farm. They understand seasonal workloads, long days and tight profit margins. Staff will work with a farmer's schedule to help them reduce operating costs.  Services include audits to identify ways to reduce energy use and improve productivity. We can assist with new parlor design, barn lighting, upgrades to vacuum pumps and variable-speed drives, and help when a compressor fails.  Staff will conduct an audit, make improvement recommendations, and assist customers with applying for project incentives.

Commercial Customers

To better reach commercial customers, Franklin Energy created several Market Sector Teams to promote energy efficiency program offerings in a targeted way to specific markets. This effort advanced the traditional custom and prescriptive incentive program into targeted niches that proved to produce significantly higher levels of participation and energy savings in these markets. Our goal in this specific concentration was to speak the industry language, understand the motivations of owners/managers, and promote technologies and methodologies that were more applicable to the market sector. We have gained extensive experience in market sectors with high energy users including Hospitality, Healthcare, Grocery and Convenience Stores, and Large Commercial Buildings.

Industrial Customers

Our staff works with industrial customers to improve their energy use in their buildings and processes.  Services include supporting the development of an energy management plan, locating vendors and evaluating their proposals for energy efficiency improvements, technical training opportunities, and evaluation of a building's overall energy use. 

We have best-practice support experience in key industries including pulp and paper, metal casting, plastics, food and dairy, and water/waste-water.

Trained staff can facility One-2-Five® and Practical Energy Management® training to help benchmark a facility and develop a customizable template for energy management.

Multi-Family Existing Buildings

 

Franklin Energy works with multi-family property owners and managers to offer two program types:

Energy Efficiency Services include full facility walk-through assessments to determine specific areas of high energy use. We provide information to owners/managers that include recommended improvements based on energy savings and paybacks and then work with them to prioritize and implement the projects and reduce energy use.

Direct Installation – Experienced crews perform direct installation services to install kitchen and bath faucet aerators, low-flow showerheads, and CFLs in multi-family buildings. In some cases we offer comprehensive air sealing measures and programmable thermostats.

Multi-Family New Construction

We work with architects, builders, and property management firms to ensure energy efficiency is incorporated from the ground-up. Working in the design phase and utilizing modeling techniques, we can help identify ways in which a building can be constructed that will result in efficient use of energy. We stay involved through the construction phase, ensuring proven efficiency and sustainability practices are incorporated.
