View DetailsIntern - Part Time - Mequon

Assist Program Manager, Energy Engineers, and Energy Advisors working with business owners to provide energy advice and coordination services of building maintenance, lighting, controls, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for energy efficiency and comfort for the energy efficiency programs. Electric and gas measures are involved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Assist in identifying and providing documentation of on-site opportunities for energy efficiency in large commercial and small business facilities. Provide follow-up as required.
•Assist in analyzing building utility bills to determine energy usage trends.
•Discuss technical elements of energy consuming equipment in a facility (lighting, HVAC, hot water systems, envelope, integrated design) and how it affects utility consumption and demand, to help build a business case to prioritize recommendations and how they affect savings and first cost.
•Enter data into MS Excel spreadsheets and WISeerts databases to determine energy savings and to manage current projects, collaborate with other Energy Advisors/Energy Engineers as required to maximize technical support to the client base.
•Serve as a technical resource for Energy Advisors as necessary.

The responsibility of this position is to provide program management and leadership to the Education and Awareness program. In addition, this individual will manage a staff of engineers, energy advisors, project coordinators, and partner companies (subcontractors).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Manage a multi-million dollar budget over multiple years including allocations to labor, expenses, subcontractors, and customer incentives.
•Provide day to day leadership to program staff including managing education/awareness program offerings, marketing activities, and assisting team to creatively meet or exceed the goals of the program.
•Monitor and manage program budgets to ensure full utilization of funds while meeting or exceeding activity based goals.
•Be a member of several working groups that will coordinate programs with other organizations working in the program.
•Prepare the monthly invoice and monthly activity reports to the respective utility by the due date of each month.


Education and/or Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, engineering, or other discipline.
•Advanced degree preferred.
•At least five years management/supervisory experience including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and mentoring;
•Proficiency in financial management of $2+ million dollar per year budget.
•Three years plus experience in managing energy efficiency programs preferred.
•Experience in lighting, HVAC, and other technologies installed in commercial and industrial applications desired.
•Technical experience in developing and/or reviewing energy savings calculations to determine paybacks and incentive levels for customers.
•Candidate must show proven leadership in fast paced environment.

Provide energy advice, energy management skills and coordination services for Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation’s (MERC) “Turn Key” Large C&I Gas Program. Primary work will be in identifying potential natural gas saving opportunities at large commercial and industrial sites throughout the state of Minnesota. Recommend or specify modifications to new and existing systems as well as processes. Electric and gas measures are involved.
