Stewardship, Mentorship … Leadership

Through firsthand guidance and hands-on involvement, being on the frontlines is simply a day in the life of our exceptional leadership. See how Franklin Energy’s exec team breaks the mold of behind-the-scenes leadership to solidify our expert culture.

Chief Executive OfficerPaul Schueller
With over two decades in the energy efficiency landscape and two successful consulting firms under his belt, Schueller provides intrinsic oversight to Franklin Energy’s business development, client relationships and delivery of contracted services for energy efficiency programs across the country. Since founding Franklin Energy in 1994, he has deliberately and gracefully grown the firm to over 400 employees, along with diverse utility clients traversed across the country. In addition to guiding Franklin Energy’s day-to-day operations, Schueller lends his stewardship to the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) and contributes to numerous charitable foundations and scholarships for young professionals on the energy efficiency track.
President—Kevin McDonough
Nearly three decades of energy efficiency experience doesn’t just make you a veteran, it makes you a pioneer. McDonough is pioneer in his own right. With deep-seated expertise in residential and commercial program design, McDonough drives Franklin Energy’s program operations and marketing outreach, helping over 100,000 end-use residential customers save energy each year. In line with his executive achievements, he is certified in Six Sigma quality program implementation and technology deployment – likened to a professional black belt within the energy efficiency arena. But above all, it’s McDonough’s philosophy that motivates his fulfillment. The constant thread of his endeavors is to help clients reach their goals and sustain for our future environment.
Executive Vice President—Dan Tarrence
Real life experience earns the respect of real industry experts…and no doubt Tarrence has earned his merit. Tarrence manages over Franklin Energy’s end-to-end implementation services for utility clients across the country and across ranging markets. He has directed the start-up and delivery of more than 100 programs since entering the efficiency space in 1990. Major achievements include innovative program development for the small lodging market, new Demand Side Management program specifications and the Commercial Sector for Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy program – which resulted in over 150 million kWh of energy savings for commercial customers. Today, Tarrence remains ingrained in the industry, chairing the Implementation Topic Committee for the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) and lending his thought leadership at numerous educational and tradeshow events.
